About Lizzie
Less than a decade ago Seattle, Washington, native Lizzie Hoff was at pony camp, just learning how to ride, and by her own admission was “too scared to jump”. Fast forward to now and you would certainly never guess that she had a hesitant start, as these days Lizzie is one of the top young rising stars in the sport of eventing!
After conquering her initial fear of jumping, Lizzie started taking lessons at an eventing barn, competing at the lower levels at events on the West Coast as a young teen. While looking for a horse to start making her move to the upper levels, Lizzie was introduced to CCI5* rider Caroline Pamukcu, a connection that would prove to be of pivotal importance for Lizzie’s riding career. Aboard her new ride, Caroline’s HSH Limited Edition, 2022 was a breakout year for Lizzie. With him she won the Junior Training division at the American Eventing Championships and was also second in the Junior/Young Rider Preliminary division on Classicals Fortune. Later that year she attended Young Rider Team Championships at Tryon, winning both team and individual gold medals with HSH Limited Edition.
From there Lizzie spent early 2023 showing in Florida for the first time, riding and basing with Caroline. She made ten FEI starts that year, finishing in the top 10 at an impressive eight of them. During the course of that season, Lizzie fell in love with the intensity of eventing on the East Coast. Making the decision to step up her competitive game and fully immerse herself in the pursuit of riding among the best of the best, Lizzie decided to move all her horses East, to Caroline’s program. She capped off her 2023 with one more trip back to the West Coast for Young Rider Championships, finishing 3rd, before settling into Caroline’s barn.
Lizzie has incredible depth to her current string of horses, with HSH Limited Edition now competing at the CCI3* level, young guns Redfield Lennon and HSH Best Kept Secret both looking to make their CCI2* debut in 2024, and newest addition Cascadella 8 aimed at CCI3* this season. Lizzie has lofty goals and has worked hard to build up a string of horses as well as a support network to help make it happen! We see big things on the horizon for this tenacious and talented young rider. She exemplifies the epitome of a VREA athlete, known for her ambition, skill, and unwavering dedication to the sport.
