VREA's 8th rider select
'RIVER'
Devon’s Siamese cat, River, is one of her most beloved companions, and River’s icy blue eyes are a perfect match for the cool tones of this versatile quarter zip named in her honor. The epitome of style and functionality for the modern rider, the soft moisture-wicking fabric offers both function and fashion in the saddle. Its subtle blue hue makes River easy to style with your favorite outfits and a complimentary color on any horse.
'Killiney'
A nod to the Irish roots of Devon’s first heart horse, Irish Sporthorse mare Killiney Hill, this tranquil green is a harmonious fusion of sophistication and natural elegance. The subtle gray undertones evoke a sense of harmony and timeless style, making Killiney the perfect hue to elevate any equestrian outfit. Our quarter zip style allows for enhanced sun protection and ventilation, making it the perfect addition to your riding wardrobe.
'Burgundy'
The color burgundy is said to stand for the qualities of individuality and uniqueness, making it the perfect shade to represent Z, Devon’s current top mount. Warm and friendly, but also in a class of his own, this deep rich hue has a lot in common with Z. Embrace timeless elegance and add a touch of class to your riding attire – classic Burgundy will complement just about any breech color.
About Devon
With parents that train animals for the film industry, it seems inevitable that Devon Tresan would also end up an animal-lover. Growing up on a farm in Ball Ground, Georgia, Devon has been riding since she was old enough to sit up on her own. She found her way to the sport of eventing at 9 years old thanks to her first pony, Superman, who ended up being a bit too wild for the hunter ring. She quickly caught the bug, falling in love with the sport despite Superman’s sometimes less-than-super shenanigans. Together the pair learned all about the ins and outs of eventing, and eventually Superman took Devon to an Area III Junior Beginner Novice Rider Championship title in 2018.
As she got older and started to grow too tall for a pony, Devon moved on to an Irish Sporthorse mare named Killiney Hill, better known as Kite, training with Lauren Eckardt of Bigtime Eventing. The pair was an instant match, working their way up to Preliminary level and had a promising future ahead before Kite unfortunately sustained a career-ending injury. After having to retire Kite, Devon acquired her two current rides, Zavallo (“Z”) and Silver Linings (“Rebel”). Although both horses can be difficult and quirky, Devon was eventually able to form strong partnerships with both, crediting them with teaching her a lot along the way. Z was still quite green when she got him, but Devon took the time to develop his confidence, molding him into a solid competitor in all three phases. Together Devon and Z have won Area 3 Championships three years in a row, working their way up to the Preliminary level with their eye on some CCI2* competitions in the fall of 2024.
She has big goals for Z and hopes that he can eventually make it to the Advanced level. Rebel was originally her mom’s ride, but he proved to be too much horse for her and instead found himself at home in Devon’s string. He’s been a challenging mount to develop but she thinks his talent is worth it, and Devon is aiming Rebel towards a CC1* in 2024. Both horses are headed to American Eventing Championships in Kentucky at the end of the summer.
Devon’s passion for horses and the sport of eventing, as well as her proven ability to be patient and tenacious, make her an ideal young rider to feature in a VREA collaboration. We’re delighted to be able to support
